Don't blink...

There a country song that talks about how fast your kids grow up, and life passes you by. It's called "don't blink" I think it's a good message and this video is nothing special, just me trying not to blink and miss a moment of this sweet girls life. ( oh, and Mike filmed this, so of course, it's my annoying voice talking in the background. Why doesn't he warn me he's shooting video?)

Caleigh's Kitchen

Caleigh got an easy bake oven for Christmas. I knew when I got it for her, I wouldn't want to deal with it, but I knew she would love it so... She does love it and every so often we get it out and she bakes something. She won't even start without putting on her Kangaroo apron from her Aunt Tracy. She loves to cook, here she is making pretzels. I hope this will build a love of cooking, so she will be able to cook yummy food for her kids. My mom passed on a love for cooking, and I am grateful that I can put healthy good meals on the table.

Day 4 and Day 6

So our "champ" is getting better. I think he is finally getting used to the attention his eye is drawing. He didn't want to go to basketball on Saturday because he was feeling embarrassed, but also worried that he would be re-hit in the eye. I made him go, and he was fine by the end, of course he sat on the bench the whole time.

Here he is today. Oh and I did take him to the doctors on Friday, just to make sure his eye was fine. They said that he just got his in the "magic" spot. The doctor said it takes weeks for the bruising to go away. Griff thought he was getting out of school for that long, but I put a damper on that dream. Anyway, he seems fine now and can finally open the eye. So now more walking around like a zombie with one eye.

My funny Valentines'

I had a great Valentine day, First I stole the idea from my friend Kata to make homemade chocolate boxes. I had such a good time putting them together and decorating them. Then the day before Valentines day My good friends Mary and Emily came over and we exchanged goodies. It was so fun to get together and make the holiday fun for our kids and hubbies.
I also gave my kids their traditional V-day shirts, although Caleighs was a dress. The kids loved it all and I loved my box of chocolates from Mike and the card he gave me. He crossed out what the card makers wrote, by slashing through it and writing "Lame" then added his own message. You gotta love living with a PH.D. student, studying writing.

Mike laughs everytime.

We talked Mike into sledding with us, the other day, while Miles was at a friends. He played with the video and got some good shots of all of us, but Caleigh's video was his favorite. And he laughs everytime he watches it.

It's all fun and games...

I'm still not sure how this happened. All I know is that during my primary presidency meeting Griffin and Elliot come up from the basement crying. Miles said he used Elliot's head to hit Griffin's eye. Elliot was fune, but Grif was left with a nice, and tough looking, black eye.
Day 1

Day 2

And here he is today-day 3. Yikes. It looks more like Elliot colored on his eye, then hit is with her head. This is his face when he turns and asks me..."does it look better?"

Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman...

The other day I made a comment on one of my entries; where is all of the snow in our front yard going to go when it starts to melt. My sister in law, Tracy, said it would probably go into my garage, because of past experiences with water flooding into my garage. Well... It has been so warm and the snow is melting, and it started raining last night, so it all started going into my garage!
The problem was a 3 foot snowbank was covering up the drainage pipe. So I went out and chipped through the ice and snow and got it uncovered. Yeah! It instantly started draining, then blub, blub, blub it stopped. I kept checking it and it seems to be slowly draining, so I think we are good. But, note for future home buyers or prospective home builders, Don't build a house, then slant the driveway towards the house. Level the ground from the street, then build the house. All of these problems would be solved with a foot more of earth under our home. Look don't I look weary after dealing with all of these water issues. I need a vacation...or my Mommy!

Superbowl Party!...who's playing?

No one knew who was playing, but that didn't stop us from getting together to eat and "watch" the game. I really do love watching the commercials, and I can get into the game, but I would rather eat and talk. We had our great friends, the Huntings, Titus, and our friend Dan Lolley over. We made Mike's Mom's traditional Hoagies (or Grinders for those of you in New England). I forgot to take a picture, but they were wonderful, Thanks Frankie for starting us on this tradition. It's funny how doing simple things, like making the same meal as your loved ones, make you feel not so far away. Hope everyone enjoyed the game! We all looked forward to the 3-D preview of the new Pixar movie. Oh and Mike needed 3-D glasses to watch "Chuck."

It's still winter, just don't tell Elliot.

(I don't know what's up with her hair in this picture)

Elliot is in a "Fun" stage of dressing herself. Lately she has been seen wearing No clothes, or a summer outfit. And she completely refuses to wear her "footsie" jammies. All of her jammies are "footsie" jammies. I love her independence, but I do wish she would change her mind about the jammies. Her drawer has 8 useless "footsie" jammies.

Ready to Rumble

In my attempt to keep my boys active and involved with sports, I signed them up for Basketball. Miles whined, until he found out his buddies were going to be playing too, then he was game. Griffin, wanted to play so badly he gave up half way through soccer season, because that's when Bball sign ups were. It's been a great program, with lots of involvement from the High School Basketball team and the usual "sporty" Dad's. Miles and Griff get so excited when they make a "hoop" (I don't know if this is a New England term or just Mile and Griffin. Ex: "Mom, I just made a hoop.") Isn't it "shooting hoops" Oh well.

The best part so far has been their "night game." Mike and I had to pay to get in and they had them playing the full court (they usually just play half) The music was pumping and Caleigh begged to buy candy at the card table concession stand all night. It was really a lot of fun. There were even cheerleaders!

We'll have to see if either of them wants to play again next year, but this year was pretty fun.

Nothing new...except the FLU!

The flu bug has hit our house, I was just saying last week how lucky we were that we hadn't been hit yet this season. Yikes! Well, poor Griffing has been a "sicko" for the last few days. I'm not naive enough to think it will stop with him, but I'm hoping. And Miles should be fine, since last night at dinner prayer, he prayed, "and please help ME not to get sick." Thanks Miles for thinking of the rest of us.
