6th graders no more.

The year started with the worry that the twins would have to go to a different school but their teacher Ms. Hansston decided to keep them both even though she would be at 32 kids. I am so grateful to her and so glad the kids got to stay at Julia Morgan. They made some good friends and got to have lots of memorable experiences. One of which was the 6th grade pool party. I volunteered to help out and we all had a blast!

There were games, food, swimming, and general poolside fun. I was so impressed with how well behaved all the kids were. We had over a hundred kids.

The last day of school was full of tearful goodbyes. The twins knew this would be the last time they would see some if their friends and its sad to think that they will be moving up to middle school without them.   But we are sure there are some fun kids waiting for us in St. George.

It was a tragedy Greek that is.

Miles and Caleigh's class has been hard at work these past few weeks working on their Greek plays. They weren't all Tragedies some were quite humorous. I enjoyed helping the day of their performance. Pinning bedsheets on 32 kids is no small task. Especially since they all needed to be re-pinned several times.

They were able to perform them in front of all the other sixth graders, the fifth graders, and the forth graders. All the younger classes were deemed not old enough to see these plays.

Miles and Caleigh did great. I love seeing them come alive in front of an audience.

The plays were wonderful!  And I was impressed with how close a group this class is.  They have done so much together this year: Science camp, a trip to china town, and several class parties.  They all get along well, and seem to have a good time together.

A few Fun Saturdays

Soccer has been going well, and the season is almost over.  Griff has learned a lot and is improving each game.  One Saturday was Family Fun Day/Picture day.  I don't know why every sporting organization doesn't do this.  Instead of Games on picture day, they just had activities for families and free hot dogs/chips and sodas.  The kids had a great time and there was no stress to make it to a game.

The potato sack race line up: Elliot, Xavien, Caleigh, Miles, and Griff...Griff won.

We took a break from Soccer one Saturday so Griff and Miles could participate in a District wide track meet.  One of the local high school's track team put it on for a fundraiser.  It was open to all 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.  Griff loves to run and holds the title of "fastest kid" in his class, so he wanted to see how he did.  I love how he welcomes challenges and tries new things.

Miles got talked into participating at the last minute and was a rock star in the mile run.  He ran the entire time, beating his record by a whole 2 minutes.  His class runs every morning, so he's getting into great shape.  He also did the Softball throw, and the 50 M race.  He threw the SB pretty far, I guess all the time tossing the Football out front is paying off.

Griff did the 400 M, the 100 M, and the Softball throw.  He came in 6th for the 100 M, and rocked the 400 M coming in 5th.  It was so awesome to see him run his little heart out.  It was such a well attended event and Miles and Griff had a great day.  Way to go boys!

A night out with the boys.

A stockton Ports Game with the boys and the Garcias. Thanks Anne for a fun night!  The boys had a great time running around and watching the game.  And I enjoyed laughing, talking, and eating peanuts.

The boys with "Splash" the team mascot. Griffin, Splash, Daniel and Miles.

Right before we left we watched the asparagus run. Three poor souls put on these costumes and race across the field. Hilarious.

Blue and Gold

In February we had our wards blue and gold banquet.  It was so much fun!  The theme was winter wonderland, and we had soups, hot chocolate bar, and a snowball fight!  The boys made the snowballs the week before with felt and stuffing.  Then we borrowed a bunch of boxes from the cannery/bishops storehouse and let the kids (and adults) loose.  It was a fun night and the boys had a great time.

Awards...Griffin earned three.  Way to go Griff
