"Sweet" Activity

What a Fun Activity!  Sweet Mimi was in charge of our Wednesday night activity and she shared her mad cupcake decorating skills.  She started with a scripture, a song, then she showed us some great stuff.  There was tons of sugar going on in that room, which meant the laughing wouldn't stop!  Some of us made some really cute stuff, and some cupcakes just looks delicious.  Either way they all tasted great.

Isn't her hat so cute!  What a fun girl.

Finally my creations.  I had so much fun trying out new techniques and using my imagination.

West Coast, East Coast, West Again...

After many agonizing months of waiting, interviews, and decisions Mike has accepted a job at UOP in Stockton, California.  He will be Director of the Writing program.  We are so excited to be making it back to the West Coast.
We leave New England with Heavy hearts.  I have grown to LOVE it here so much.  We have made lasting friendships with the wonderful people.  We hate to leave them behind.  And I don't know how to say goodbye to places and memories that are so near and dear to me.  But, I know that there will be more adventures ahead.

No picture post (boring, right?)

Our house is in a tizzy!  Packing, packing, more packing.  The kids are still in school till the 19th and they have had a busy month of fieldtrips and activities.

Griffin went to a fisher-cats baseball game, our local library and Great bay discovery center.  The twins trips have taken them to the Boston Aquarium the NH fish hatchery, a local hike and many in-class science experiments.  This last week of school will be no different.  They each have activity days planned at school, step up day (which won't really be fun for them since they see what class they will be in the next year only they will be in Cali), and a end of the year ceremony and picnic for the twins.  I am so grateful for all these activities to keep them busy and their minds off the upcoming move.  They all seem to be taking the move great, but I'm sure as the days count down they will be feeling a little more emotional about it.

Our family combined with Hunting family for a yard sale.  The kids all had things to sell.  Miles and Griff sold toys, Caleigh had made some flower headbands and pins, and Elliot colored on Rocks and sold them for .25 cents each.  She surprisingly made 5 dollars!  But, she spent it before the day was through.

Griffin was disappointed most of his toys didn't sell, and the ones that did he had to drop the price of.  Hes been saving for months for a Oliver Wood Wand (from Harry Potter) and he needed just a little bit more to get it.  He maned the table the whole day so when he fell short I paid him the difference.  I am impressed with that kids work ethic.

And Miles lucked out that the Huntings are such big Star Wars fans, they bought his large Millenium Falcon off of him.  Making him the big earner for the day.  He immediately came home and ordered some lego guns off the computer that he's had his eye on for oh, a day!  Ha ha ha, he gets his money sense from me.

Now that the yard sale is over and the left over stuff is dropped off at goodwill the major packing has begun.  It surprises me how much stuff we have!  And the emotional roller coaster has begun.  Mike was releases from the Bishopric, and we have started to plan out our "last" days that we want to fit in.  Beach day, lighthouse day, shopping day, BBQ...

But when it's all said and done California here we come!

Again...is this normal

Miles and his costumes!

I don't even know what this is, but I love his imagination.  He cracks me up with the combinations. Like does a spy really need roller blades?  I don't know if he was even dressing up as a spy, maybe he was an undercover rollerblader?

Want one?

Oh, what do those Peterson Children do on a Sunday?  Here's Caleigh and Elliot's solution...commercials!  I realize this might only be funny to Mike and I but, it's Hilarious.

And it only took Elliot 5 takes to get it right!  They've been up their for hours though so there might have been a lot of rehearsal time.

Miles

What can I say, this kid marches to the beat of his own drum.

And yes those are headphones under neath his helmet.

Recital 2012

We look forward to this recital every year.  We always have a great time and the kids work so hard.  It's great for them to have a place to show off their talents.  This year we were especially grateful to have both sets of Grandparents here.  (I didn't get a photo of G and G Peterson).

Elliot stayed entertained waiting for the recital to start by taking pictures or having her picture taken.

Miles played- Carol of the Bells, Malaguena, and Ragtime Man
Caleigh- Tarantella, Scottish bagpipes, and Oh, Susanna
Griffin- In the hall of the Mountain King and The greatest show on Earth

We will miss our piano teacher, Kathy.  She is so great and feels more like a friend than a teacher.  I feel so blessed to have found her 4 years ago and to have had her be a part of the kid's lives.  She gave all the children so much confidence and encouragement.  Thank you Kathy

Quilts from Grandma Marie

My Mom's been hard at work since she left last March working on these blankets for the kids.  It started with Caleigh's Owl fabric.  She found this cute owl fabric at Keepsake Fabric store that we went to last time my parents were here.  So my mom went home and started sewing.  The kids love her blankets.  She has been making them quilts since they were in the womb.  She loves to create the something cute and useful.  They are always so snugly and soft.

A BIG quilt for a growing girl.

 Hugs for Grandma Marie
